Eaton Canyon

This tree had an enthusiastic bird singing in its branches…

…and clover growing beneath it.
The big tree above on the left had water inside it.

We also saw cacti surrounded by short green grass.

We were just up there last weekend; we wanted to take the shortcut route to the waterfall, but we found out that they closed the gate because of a nearby landslide that happened a couple of years ago. Since we were with a toddler, we ended up not going far from the nature center, but I did manage to take a picture of a pretty cool tree.
I love the photo of the tree with water in the center!
I love the one of the puddle in the tree! It’s magical.
That place rocks and I’m not even an outdoors-y type.
Eaton Canyon is one of the magical natural wonders of Pasadena. Well, in my humble opinion anyway. The oak groves could lure and trap me like a faerie ring if I let them. Especially in springtime, we they’re surrounded by violets and wild clover.
What a gorgeous place to walk. Love the open sun shot and the shade under boughs. Gorgeous.
Too bad we haven’t had much rain; there is a waterfall back in the canyon. It’s a good hike for kids because there isn’t much of an incline, but a lot of river rock jumping back and forth across the stream. It’s about 45 minutes from the bridge. I love to hike this area - Thanks for posting! Maybe I’ll meet you on the trail one of these days~
