Mahalo’s Pasadena page
Jun 30th, 2007 by Jill
On Thursday, Gavin and I visited the Santa Monica iPhone line. (We occasionally leave Pasadena, it’s true!) We met several people from Mahalo (”the world’s first human-powered search engine” — here’s their about page). We told them we were from Pasadena and asked them if they could create a Pasadena search results page, and the next day they did. Head on over and check it out, and while you’re at it, recommend a few links that would make the page even better.
I’m so glad you enjoyed the page! I’ll get to more this week.
Interesting concept…although I’m not entirely sure of it quite yet. Is it a bit like Squidoo?…where people create pages about ONE thing…but putting a search engine spin on it?
Unlike Squidoo, I think the employees of Mahalo are the only people who create and edit search result pages. It sounds like the concept is quality controlled, spam-free, definitely useful and on-topic search results.
Sounds a lot like Yahoo! back when it started….
