Video from the 2nd Quarterly Pasadena Bloggers’ Picnic
Nov 5th, 2007 by Jill
Gena at Out On the Stoop posted video footage from our last Pasadena bloggers’ picnic.
It reminded me of how much fun I had that day — and it also reminded me that the 3rd quarterly picnic is coming up soon. If you are a local blogger and would like to receive information about the next picnic, please leave a message in the comments. All Pasadena and San Gabriel Valley area bloggers are welcome.

Hey! Include me in to the next picnic, please!
Thanks!
Me too! I’ve really enjoyed keeping up with the great folks I met at the last picnic.
Besides, Dave and I are going to have a brownie smackdown.
Oh, it is ON Kathy! You’re doing down!
I think the picnic sounds great - except for the questionable decision to invite blogs that are run with right-wing extremist agendas - the question is, does the blogging community Have/want to include them? This is up to them, just a few comments:
- The Pasadena Pundit, is run by Wayne Lusvardi, a notorius right-winger long known in the area for his strong, often hateful, viewpoints.
- Aaron Proctor has taken several right-wing extremist stances on his blog Pasadena’s Political Underbelly. His ethics (or lack of them) are blatantly clear in these racist posts on his blog (astonishing racism has come up over the school issue): http://underpasadena.blogspot.com/2007/09/pusd-has-new-superintendent-with-agenda.html
ummm… its fine to be open, but this stuff is scary!! (I showed it to my blogging friend and she called Proctor a bottom-feeder).
Lets not be so “egalitarian” that hateful extremists are given extra (free) exposure.
just my 2-cents!
thanks,
Virginia
Re: Demonization of Pasadena Pundit
Quote Virginia Hoge (above)
“The Pasadena Pundit, is run by Wayne Lusvardi, a notorius right-winger long known in the area for his strong, often hateful, viewpoints.”
Here is who the “hateful” Pasadena Pundit is:
1. Former U.S. Armyu psychiatric social worker
2. Former General Relief worker for L.A. County working with homeless and mentally ill.
3. Former Aid to Family with Dependent Children (AFDC) Eligibility Worker working with low income families
4. Former Dependency Court Social Worker working with abused and neglected children
5. Former graduate of USC with a Master’s in Social Work
6. Former low income housing development analyst for L.A. County Community Development Commission
7. Former project manager L.A. County Housing Authority & Southern California Gas Company solar hot water heating project for public housing facilities.
8. Former public union member.
9. Not registered in the Republican Party.
Does the above sound like someone who fits Virginia Hoge’s definition of a “hateful right winger?” Just who is the hateful person - Hoge or the Pasadena Pundit? I can’t answer that totally objectively because I am the Pasadena Pundit.
Wayne Lusvardi
I can vouch for you Wayne. I’ve met you and emailed with you and know you’re a good man.
Right wing? Right wing?
Wow…I guess me being a registered Democrat and supporting totally liberal stuff 99% of the time makes me “right wing”?
Besides, Under Pasadena isn’t my blog. I contribute and comment there occasionaly but the blog and that entry in particular is run by a guy named Dormitas.
My blog is here:

So, you and your friends thinking I’m a bottom-feeder for stuff I didn’t even write shows you need to pay more attention.
[...] A friend sent me this link. [...]
Besides, I think I’ve had maybe ONE racist post on my blog..and that was about Armenians…which is about the same as making fun of Amish people.
I’m in for sure. Publius and I are getting sick of anonymity and besides, who else is going to tell Virginia Hoge she’s off her crocker if she thinks Wayne Lusvardi and Aaron Proctor are fighting in the same corner?
She’s the one who temporarily got Rene Amy shut down and if memory serves she was also a big supporter of Percy Clark.
I thought this thread was about a picnic? I would never go to a bloggers picnic because I prefer to sit home alone in the shadow of my monitor.
Anyone who has actually been on AP’s site is left scratching one’s head at some of the previous posts. Dre is correct search the PW site and a little effort will show some of the previous writings of some Dave Mason hating painters.
I love how she hasn’t even done her research properly and puts Wayne Lusvardi and I in the same boat.
And then she calls me right wing?

Hey Aaron, that last part wasn’t cool.
Claassss. Claaaaaasssss. Remember: Unity in diversity. The Whole Point of this whole bloody Blog Thing is that we’ll never all completely agree with each other, but we all live in this community so we’re trying to figure out how to make it a livable place for everyone.
PS @Howey, free yourself from the shadows. You have such a great sense of humor. Plus you’re smart. Please humor and wow us at the next meet up.
If I go outside w/o my tin foil hat the CIA can read my thoughts, and if I do wear it I will look crazy. I hope you can see my dilemma.
I might in fact be there …
Sorry about that, Jill.
That’s okay. I still think YOU’RE cool.
Virginia Hoge is about as tolerant of differing opinions as the Chinese Government. I hear she’s part of the ChiCom Gloat, er float, in the parade? She’s the one driving the tank.
D.
Virginia is a person, too, though. I know the blogosphere is known for its rough and tumble nature, but I wish sometimes that we could be a little bit more Mister Rogers style…
I’m thinking of having a happy hour at Bodega Wine Bar in the Paseo instead of a picnic this quarter. They have heat lamps. Any thoughts on this?
I don’t think Mr. Rogers would want to BAN someone from a picnic simply because he disagreed with their views and certainly doubt he would call those whom with he disagreed extremists. Won’t you be my neighbor?
You’re right. I just wish the general response to Virginia Hoge was a little more interested in her as a person and where she’s coming from — not because we plan to ban anybody, though.
[...] Virginia Hoge May Be A Complete Ignoramus: [...]
hi jill: i vote for bodega. when can i meet you all there? lw
Wait, wasn’t Virginia Hoge the person who called Aaron Proctor a racist (for something an anonymouse wrote on our blog) and suggested you “disinvite” those whose opinions differ from her myopic, self-absorbed, bottom-feeding, parasitic, PUSD apologizing views?
How’s that for nice?
D.
I’m in since LW’s buying at Bodega. I’ll be the one sitting behind Centinel and Publius.
D.
I’m going to wear a tin foil hat just in case Howey shows up.
I’ll hide behind my anonymouse-ity.
D.
When is it?
I’ll be the one in the autographed Virginia Hoge t-shirt.

Awesome.
How about in early January, right after the holidays?
It’s not exactly quarterly at that point, but it might be easier to get to. Or would you guys rather do it sooner?
I love the way you’re developing community in Pasadena. It’s a joy to behold.
I’m down with January.
