I used to work across the street from this building. Elderyly people would stand outside of it all day. The fire department was there at least once a week because someone either passed away or was ill. One of the delivery men in the area told me that it has hardwood floors, and great ceilings and was in decent shape. All of the residents were moved out and dispersed through the SGV into different area nursing homes. How sad.

First: Jill, you nailed this photo (as usual). Beeeautiful.
I heard from a friend who works for the city that the seniors will not be returning. The corporation that moved them out had to be forced by the city to give the seniors financial aid and help them relocate. (Not exactly her words, but something to that effect).

Hotel is what they're planning, I understand.

Thanks, Jill for the info on this old senior home.
I see this building o/s my office every day! Nothing seems to be happening with it since they moved out the seniors last yr.
Are they having trouble with pemits, financing, etc?
Those are great photos of the doors on Colorado Bl.

I thought it was being turned into condos, but it looks like I was wrong. According to Park Place Commercials, LP's website -- http://www.parkplacelp.com -- it will be "an upscale limited service boutique hotel" and this list of "Projects of Community Wide Significance" for Council district 7 published by the City of Pasadena looks like it confirms that: http://www.ci.pasadena.ca.us/planning/mapping/images/council/rprojsig_dist7.pdf

Have I mistakenly believed a neighbor when he assured me that the building was just being retrofitted and restored and that kindly older and disabled tenants would be returned to reside? It pains me to see that sign. It makes me think it's joining the pool of commercial business space. when there is plenty of plush modern space in Pasadena ready for occupancy by the corps.
