Bikers participating in Love Ride 24

We saw a group of people standing on a 210 freeway overpass looking down at the freeway at 9:30 this morning, so we pulled over and got out, too. When we couldn’t see anything unusual happening on the freeway, we asked one of them what was going on. We learned that a bunch of motorcyclists were on their way from Glendale to Pomona as part of California Bike Week, and that Jay Leno was going to be among them. We didn’t stay long enough to see the big mass of motorcyclists that were on their way, but we did see a few groups of bikers who were ahead of the pack.

We also saw one Santa biker.

Born too late: A history meme

Kelly tagged me for her Born Too Late meme. It’s taken me a while to respond (lots going on in the Doughtie household this summer), but I’ve finally posted my answers below.

Mahalo’s Pasadena page

On Thursday, Gavin and I visited the Santa Monica iPhone line. (We occasionally leave Pasadena, it’s true!) We met several people from Mahalo (“the world’s first human-powered search engine” — here’s their about page). We told them we were from Pasadena and asked them if they could create a Pasadena search results page, and the next day they did. Head on over and check it out, and while you’re at it, recommend a few links that would make the page even better.

Just married!

Gavin and I were married this morning in Beverly Hills. I’m Jill Davis Doughtie now! I may not be blogging very much for the next few days…

Our dog

We had a rough weekend here at Eye Level Pasadena, and we ended up having to put our dog to sleep this morning.

Goodbye, little electric cars

Little electric car

The city of Pasadena had to give its fleet of electric cars back to Nissan to be turned into scrap metal. From what I understand the city wanted to buy them, but Nissan wanted to destroy them after the lease ended.

Hypermini rear

I loved these cars.

Hypermini on the street

I hope we get another fleet of electric cars soon.
